Trees are not silent
but ring with metabolism.

They crackle with construction,
spark with annihilation.

The surface upon which we dance
is pavement over the dust of beginning and ending
outside our scale;

Mechanics of modification
are catchable in the mesh of our minds,
if we consider carefully
all that is common to all.
